MISS MEREDEATH GAME

Miss Meredeath was the first game I made art and developed the concept for with my teammates. The game was made during a weekend hackathon challenge for the IDEAS 350 class on computational video game development I took in my sophomore spring semester. The goal for the hackathon was to create a game demo for the prompt “you are the villain.” In Miss Meredeath, you play as a little girl seeking revenge after she is grounded for having a tantrum at dinner about not getting ice cream. Your objective is to kill all the people in the house without getting detected. Heavily inspired by pixel horror games, we wanted to make a dark comedy game with gothic aesthetics. I developed the concept art, pixel sprites, and animations for the characters Miss Meredeath, the chef, the head maid, the maid and the mom. Additionally I created unique tile art to match the game’s sprite aesthetics and the game over and happy end (a screen you receive when you successfully kill everyone in the game demo) screens.

Our team ended up winning the hackathon for our original concept and visual execution of it!

Special thanks to my team, Jude Gravois (producer and game designer), Willow Frohardt (fellow artist and animator), Luca Guerrera (coder, sound effects) and Noah Hartzfeld (coder.)
